Scales of War
Fresh from your valiant exploits in the dungeons of Castle Rivenroar, Councilmember Troyas introduces you in Brindol’s town square, to the delight of the general populace.
“Ladies and gentlemen. Today is a joyous day for the city of Brindol. A few days ago, a band of goblins thought to strike fear into our hearts by kidnapping the vulnerable and absconding with some of our most cherished heirlooms from the Battle of Brindol. But we citizens of Brindol are proud and persevering. We are not daunted by intimidation and threats. We weathered the invasion, proof that though the old enemy may wear a new face, a goblin is still a goblin and we will beat him as we have always beaten him!”
It was clear to those of us on the Council that swift action needed to be taken. To sit behind our walls and await the next attack from an implacable foe would have been an act of rank cowardice. And we are not cowards; we do not lack for boldness of heart and body. Therefore, I, Eoffram Troyas, engaged a valiant group of adventurers to rescue our lost citizens, retrieve the stolen artifacts, and cleanse the area of the goblin threat. It brings me great joy to say that these brave souls succeeded in their mission. With one sad exception, the captives are safe and sound, the artifacts have been returned to the Hall of Great Valour where they belong, and best of all, the goblin menace is ENDED!
At this time, I would like to introduce the heroes of Brindol. Despite what some may have you believe, adventurers will always be a valuable resource to this city. Whether you hail from the wilds of the Witchwood or have the blood of the fey coursing through your veins, Brindol will always welcome you with open arms if you are stout of heart and willing to stand tall in the face of any danger that threatens the city. The valour of these worthy folk epitomizes all that is great about the city of Brindol! Receive them with great praise!
A newcomer to our fair city, and someone whom we hope will continue to prove himself a loyal servant of Brindol: The Fist of Sehanine!
A daring and eagle-eyed defender of the city who has proven himself time and time again: Hasim Al-Ranak!
Living proof that even the humblest among us can serve the city in our hour of need: esteemed busboy of the Antler and Thistle Tavern, Aldor Rake!
(Applause mixed with laughter)
Though he perished in battle, his name will be honoured in the annals of Brindol’s lore: the valiant elf archer Iorminas o’ the Golden Arrow!
(Moment of silence)
Lastly, the daughter of one of our leading merchants, a gifted composer, and a bard of such talent as to move even the stone-hearted to tears with music and song: Nissa of the House of Eothel!
