Iorminas originally hails from Westdeep, but considers himself a citizen of all of Elsir Vale. Rejecting the simple minded bigotry displayed by too many of his kin, Irominas has spent most of his life visiting different areas of the Vale, and rarely stays in the same place for long. Early on in his life he met Pradir and Qamara, which left him with a deep sense of purpose in opposing evil.
In recent years he discovered he has a particular talent for archery, but was discouraged from competing in Niniel Moonglow’s archery competition as the military service required of the winner too restrictive on his carefree nature. That and he was taunted by his would-be competitors because, although he was very accurate with his fine elven longbow, the arrows themselves didn’t do much damage to the targets since Iorminas didn’t have enough formal training to make his shots deadly.
On one of his many trips to Pradir’s grave, he was inspired to adopt the greatbow (which he feels is his signature like Pradir’s bastard sword), a distinctly non-elven weapon. When he found it impossible to wield in his delicate elven hands, he moved to Brindol and made liberal use of Niniel’s war banner by touching it several times a day. This achieved two things: one was that the constant burning toughened up his hands, the other was that the constant visits made him contemplate the events of the Red Hand invasion, which made a military life more palatable (not that it is what he wanted, but a sense of obligation grew within him.
At last year’s competition he showed up with his oversized bow (which he always refers to as his bastard) and won easily – by shooting from several paces behind any of his competitors, and having most of his arrows penetrate the targets and get embedded in the opposing wall. A particularly stubborn arrow is still embedded in the wall of Niniel’s tavern today.
Upon joining the military, Iorminas was fortunate that commanders recognized that he was best deployed as a scout, and essentially has let him wander the wilderness for the year looking for trouble. Now that his compulsory service is up, he has decided to return to Brindol to take part in the completion again…
